How to use the UT app

Our core service is developing technology that connects drivers and riders on demand. Here’s how the app works, step by step:

Create an account

Download the UT app and create your account.

Enter your destination

Open the app and enter where you’re going in the “Where to?” box. Tap to confirm your pickup location, then tap Confirm to be matched to a driver nearby.

Meet your driver

You can track their arrival on the map. When they’re a few minutes away, wait for them at your pickup location.

Check your ride

For your personal safety, be certain that you’re getting into the right car. Before hopping in, check the driver, car model, and license plate number against the information in the app. Once you’re in the car, have your driver confirm your name before they go.

Sit back and relax

When you arrive, payment is easy through the app. Choose to pay with the credit card saved to your account.

Rate your trip

Let us know how your trip went. You can also give your driver a compliment.

Frequently asked questions

  • UT often places a temporary authorization hold on payment methods for final fares before the start of a trip. This initial fare is marked as “Pending” on the rider’s account. While this is immediately voided at our end, it might linger on your account for a short while. The actual charge is only one final charge, so you don't have to worry.

  • If there is an unknown UT claim in your card statement or bank account, please follow the instructions in the link below to check the payment information.

  • If a trip is less than 30 days old (60 days for business trips), you can change the payment method used to pay for the trip. Follow these steps:

    1. Open the app and tap the menu icon.
    2. Select Trips and then the trip you want to update.
    3. Tap Get trip help and then Switch the payment method for a past trip.
    4. Follow the prompts to change your payment method.
